Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) on Thursday launched its Online Tourism Business Licensing System (OTBLS), to ease the facilitation of tourism business licence issuance and renewal processes.

This service is available through the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) official website (www.sltda.gov.lk) from November 10, 2016.

Through the system, the establishment owners will also be able to check the status of the application and pay registration and renewal fees through bank deposits or via credit cards. Furthermore, tourism businesses will receive alerts also via SMS and e-mail about the status of their applications.

The concept behind this service is to provide licencing and other related services to the tourism industry in regions whereby reducing them having to come to the head office which is located in Colombo.

“The property owners will have to make one time visit to SLTDA only at the point of collecting the license.

This will save time and money for business operators such as hotels, restaurants in the country and will mark a major milestone in the tourism industry in Sri Lanka.” SLTDA, ICT Director Udana Wickramasinghe said.

To apply for a new licence or to renew the existing business licence, the business owners will have to scan the original documents and upload them to the official website.
